Lauren Jones is the Director of Business Strategy in the Mayor's Office of Economic Development, supporting new business attraction and business engagement within the Boston business community. Lauren is leading this strategy with a focus on key and emerging industries, global affairs, and talent development. Prior to this role, Lauren led priority initiatives in the Walsh Administration including private sector recruitment and engagement for the Mayor's Summer Jobs Program, the development of the Mayor's Mentoring Movement to recruit 1,000 mentors for Boston's youth, and crafting and implementing Boston's adoption of President Obama's My Brother's Keeper Initiative to boost life outcomes for youth, especially Black and Latino males in Boston. Over the years, Lauren has gained extensive experience in policy, communications, and strategic planning working in local and state government including as Director of Policy & Communications for Massachusetts Lt. Governor Tim Murray in addition to working in the Patrick-Murray Administration's Executive Office of Workforce Development as Communications Director and the Massachusetts Office of Business Development, where she managed one of the state's main economic development incentive tools for businesses and municipalities. Lauren graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Sciences and is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Administration at Northeastern University.
